Didcot Railway Centre 4th March.

The Vintage Trains Shareholders Special is just approaching Grimsbury Green Bridge, just North of Banbury, With 7029 Clun Castle as the Pilot Engine and 5043 Earl of Mount Edgcumbe as the Train Engine.

The four Castles are lined up from Left top Right are 4079 Pendennis Castle, 5043 Earl of Mount Edgcumbe, 5051 Drysllwyn Castle and 7029 Clun Castle. Also on display between the shed and the four castles were Pannier Tank No 3738, 61xx No 6106, Small Prairie No 5572 and 56xx No 6697.

The 4 Castles were arranged in numerical order, with the area in front of the locos roped off to ensure that everyone managed to get a clear photo both from ground level and from the coaling stage, especially as it was estimated that were over 2500 in attendence.

The 2 castles are now coupled together, and waiting for a green signal to proceed to Didcot Yard to collect its coaches, and then proceed to Didcot Station to pick up it's Passengers and then heads back to Birmingham.

In the background of the Two Castles waiting to proceed to Didcot Yard to collect its coaches, is Didcot's 2-6-2T No 4144 which had been running on the demonstration line with a pair of Autocoaches all morning and until the Presentation was over, when it was replaced with Pendenis Castle. This was the first outing for 4144 sionce it's repaint from early British Railways livery into GWR unlined green.

Tim was on the Footbridge at Kings Sutton to capture the two Castles heading back to Birmingham, but with this time 5043 as Pilot Engine and 7029 as Train Engine.

No 4 "Edward Thomas" has arrived at Rhydyronen at 10.38 with a Corris Coach, 3 Slate Wagons, Bogie Brake Coach and Diesel Loco No 11 in the Consist.

No 4 "Edward Thomas" has arrived at Dolgoch at 11.55 and proceeds to take water from The Old Water Tank.

No 4 "Edward Thomas" is seen crossing Dolgoch Viaduct at 12.10. This 0-4-2 Saddle Tank was built in 1921 by Kerr, Stuart & Co. Ltd for The Corris Railway.

No 4 "Edward Thomas" was purchased by the Talyllyn Railway in 1951 and named after the TR's Former Manager. It is seen at 13.42 taking water from the recently restored historic original watering point.

No 3 "Sir Haydn" is seen at 15.42 at Ty Dwr. This Loco was built in 1878 by The Hughes' Loco and Tramway Engineering Works Ltd of Loughborough originally as a 0-4-0 Sadle Tank, and worked on The Corris Railway until it's closure in 1948.

No 3 "Sir Haydn" and vintage carriages are crossing the access road at Quarry Sidings at 16.38. This Loco was purchased by The Talyllyn in 1951 and was named after the lines's late owner Sir Henry Haydn Jones.

CTL Seal Open Day

CTL Seal Engineering Open Day 15th April

The well known Sheffield Engineering firm of CTL Seal are in the process of building Two new Steam Locomotives, and held an Open Day, to show what progress has been made. The first of the pair is No 72010 Clan Class "Hengist", and shows that the frames have been cut out and bolted together.
