Welcome to the Marlow & District Railway Society

Founded in 1977, we are a group of railway enthusiasts based in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, and with members from the surrounding districts, including High Wycombe, Bourne End, Henley, Maidenhead and Twyford. Our activities include regular monthly meetings at the British Red Cross Society in Marlow, and outings to places of railway interest (see the club gallery pages for some examples). We also publish our own illustrated magazine The Marlow Donkey. Meetings are open to non-members, but why not join us?

Our next meeting is on Thursday 18 September when Alan Willmott will be showing us more gems from British Transport Films.

New venue: Following our move in June to cater for the increased attendances at our Thursday evening meetings, we now meet at the British Red Cross Society in Victoria Road, just off Glade Road by the Cottage Hospital. Thanks to our previous venue, the Liston Hall, for their hospitality and support over the last three years.

• Local railway pictures - GW&GC Joint line: Since our new gallery featuring loco-hauled and unusual workings on the line through High Wycombe was launched, things have been getting more and more interesting. We have had loco-hauled passenger and freight diversions from the WCML at weekends to add to the Virgin Voyagers that have become almost commonplace. You can see some of the variety on the Departmental and Unusual Workings sections on the Joint Line gallery. Further contributions are welcome.
• Press coverage: The society was featured in the 'High Societies' slot in the Marlow Free Press on Friday 15 August (see above). James Nadal's article gave us an excellent write-up and included an interview with Secretary Malcolm Margetts and a picture from our 2007 visit to Bletchley depot.
• Visit to the Severn Valley Railway: Some pictures taken on the trip to the SVR on 10 August are posted on the 2008 gallery.
